eastAUSmilk Media Release…
It is time Australia looked at what can be achieved for us to be self-sufficient, Farmers make these decisions every day.
Please remember the country town, consistent and constant resources are needed now.
Fertilizer, specifically urea is of great concern, needed for hungry crops if a farmer cuts back on this input, yields will be affected leading to less food available, again the most critical time for fertilizer is at sowing which is now.
Australia is a big island and food security needs to be taken seriously; to have quality plentiful food we need resources. Just because a country town has a small population doesn't mean it needs less fuel, the farmers of that town are feeding millions.
'If the supply in storage is adequate, the problem is then the distribution and it needs to be fair', Mr Bale said.
This time of year, when costs quite often exceed income, fuel and fertilizer are the big on farm expenses without having increased price hikes to account for.
According to President of eastAUSmilk, Tim Bale, it is a critical time for agriculture in general, summer crops are being harvested and sowing of winter pastures are about to commence.
Most dairy areas are looked after by independent fuel distributors who seem to be missing out on critical supply.
eastAUSmilk expresses severe concern for fuel supplies for regional Australia and its Agricultural industry.
