Some positive elements in the 2025 Qld Budget

The Queensland budget was released yesterday and there were some very positive elements for agriculture including the dairy industry.

eastAUSmilk welcomes the extension of the Farm Business Resilience Program (FBRP) for a further 4 years. FBRP has been a highly successful partnership program in the dairy industry between eastAUSmilk and DPI.

“FBRP has enabled many dairy farmers to develop and implement a farm business plan and it is great that this partnership will continue.”  eastAUSmilk president Joe Bradley said

The sowing the seeds of farm innovation project was also announced and it is hoped this will continue the excellent work undertaken by eastAUSmilk in its recently completed technology adoption and training project.

This Queensland budget did not include any funding for the implementation of the Queensland Dairy Plan (QDP) which was disappointing.

Farmers worked with Government and milk processors to agree the QDP for the industry’s survival and to increase resilience.

“We will continue to work with the Queensland government, and we encourage them to help the dairy industry move forward in these challenging times. We hope that they can provide some funding to continue the QDP for the next year before longer term funding is available with the implementation of $30b plan for Queensland Agriculture.” Mr Bradley said
