Lismore Farm Walk

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Lismore ‘Farm Walk’ Group for their continued engagement, inviting EAM staff to join them once again for their monthly gathering. It is always a pleasure to reconnect with this proactive group, whose members consistently share valuable insights and experiences relevant to their region.

This week, eleven group members convened at the home of Craig and Eileen Waddell. The Waddell family operated a dairy business for nearly 45 years until significant flooding impacted the area in 2022. Since then, Craig has taken on a mentorship role, supporting fellow dairy farmers during challenging times and offering guidance on various aspects of dairy and agricultural management. The recovery from the 2022 floods and persistent wet conditions has been a lengthy and demanding process for all involved.

The group comprises dedicated farmers who foster a supportive community, maintaining camaraderie and assisting one another during difficult periods - an essential quality in the agricultural sector.

Looking ahead, the next meeting is planned for Kyogle. Anticipation is also building for the completion of Paul Weir’s large farm shed, expected at the end of 2025, which will provide an excellent opportunity for the group to admire and recognise this achievement together.
